Frank Skinner will be playing 'Fix' on his Absolute Radio show this coming Saturday (24/08/13). A massive thankyou to Frank for this!

Hello folks im happy to say I have finished my new EP which is eponymously and imaginatively titled 'Paul Mclinden'. Please give it a listen. I recorded it in Chem 19 studios with  Producer Dave McAuley. Three of the songs are co-written with my sometime collaborator and all the time brother Andrew. Also thanks to my good friend Graeme Critcher who volunteered his time to come play drums on the opening track 'Fix'. The photographs for the EP were done by the very talented  Euan Robertson. Lastly i really must get a web designer to work on my site as i am clearly not up to the task!

Delighted to tell you good folks that one of my collaborations with Producer Kenny Inglis has been used in the latest Warner Bros featurette for Gangster Squad (15/01/13). The film stars Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin among others and you can hear our song called "One Black Sunday" in the trailer below.

Im very happy to report that my recent collaboration with the very talented Mothmatix was featured in this weeks episode of CSI : New York (11/01/13) .  The song is called 'Go Stop Go' and features yours truly on vocals. You can check out 'Go Stop Go' and the rest of Mothmatix's music here: www.mothmatix.co.uk

Im very happy to report that my brother Andrew has been nominated for the prestigious Pushcart Prize 2012 for his short story "A Case of the Puncs". Raymond Carver is among the past winners of the prize so its fair to say Andrew is in good company! As he lost out in the looks department to his younger brother i think this is God's way of evening things up. You can read " A Case of the Puncs" by Andrew Mclinden here www.swback.com/issues/016/case-of-the-puncs.html

MTV recently asked if they could use my song "This Is That" in their new drama series called "Ultimo Ano".  Apparently the song is now going to be used in 9 episodes which is fantastic so check it out folks.

Rocket was played on BBC Radio 6 Music last night (17/06/12) by the legendary Don Letts which im very happy about.

NME have chosen 'Rocket' to be included on The Selector show on NME Radio.  You can hear the show on the NME website from tonight (01/06/12) then it apparently goes out in another 35 countries . Great stuff.

Im very happy to say Mary Ann Hobbs played 'Rocket' on her XFM show this week(22/05/12) while BFBS have made 'Foggy City Orphan' their Essential album this week which is terrific. Also Jim Gellatly will be playing 'Rocket' again this Sunday (27/05/12) on his Amazing Radio show so thanks for that Jim. Also  thanks to my Producers Dave Mcauley at Chem 19 Studios and Kenny Inglis at Underworld Studios for all their hard work on my songs. Sounds like the start of an Oscars speech...

ps. Just found out Jim will  also be playing Rocket tonight(27/05/12) on In:Demand Uncut  7-10pm on Clyde 1, Forth One, Northsound 1, Radio Borders, Tay FM, West FM & West Sound FM. Excellent stuff give it a listen if you can folks!

Hello folks

Just a small update on whats happening in the land of Paul. Im almost finished  recording my new songs in Chem 19 and its sounding rather good i think. More news on that to follow soon but i must say a thank you to Louis Abbott from the wonderful Admiral Fallow who very kindly offered to play some drums for me on my new record. Not only is Louis a great songwriter but hes also a great drummer!

Also i recently completed my first Transatlantic collaboration with the lovely Some Velvet Evening. Heaven knows why but they asked me to play some guitar on a couple of tracks for their new album which i was more than happy to do. If you like honky tonks, harmonies and heartaches then check them out!

Lastly but by no means least, my song 'Too Little Too Late' is being used in the upcoming episode of 'One Tree Hill' which will air on Feb 15th, 2012, in the US. On a side note i recently discovered that when i put glasses on i bare a striking resemblance to Penfold from the Dangermouse cartoon. I may post a picture to support this claim at a future date.

sure nuff 'n' yes i do

The wonderful Lauren Laverne played my song 'Love You Bring' on her BBC 6 Music Show on Friday (13/05/11) , describing it as 'absolutely beautiful' (go lauren!). The show is available on the BBC iplayer and you can check it out here  http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01105kd

Also, Beanbags and Blue Planet were played this week on the Iain Anderson Show on BBC Radio Scotland which im delighted about. You can hear these shows here http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0074hkv

Im going into the studio next week to record a few songs so hopefully the session goes well and i'll have some new music for you to hear.

Im very happy to have been asked to play at the beautiful City Halls in Glasgow on Feb 26th. I will be opening for the newly formed Rose Room which comprises virtuoso violinist and vocalist Seonaid Aitken and also Jimmy Moon on double-bass (i once bought a guitar from Jimmy hes the man!) By all accounts the venue is amazing and im excited to be playing at it and I will be joined for this concert by my good friend and all round talented musician Steve McCluskey. Tickets are priced at £10 from the Box Office or you can drop me a line and get a discounted price of £6! Hope to see some of you there.

Happy New Year to everyone...Im very happy to say that a song i wrote with Dot Allison has been used in the new Maxwell House Coffee advert in Russia. I dont like coffee and i cant speak Russian but i am half way through an amazing book by Mikhail Bulgakov called 'The Master And Margarita'..what an amazing book. Also the song is being used for the Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Show...i know nothing about fashion but it sounds quite cool doesnt it! Check out the videos for both:

New Single

Hello folks
Just a quick update about whats been going on....i am sorry that theres been a delay in getting the 'This Is That' CDs back from the manufacturers. Its a long story and i wont bore you with the sordid details...basically ive had to change manufacturers as the original company have let me down badly. I would like to shout and swear about this but instead i have written a couple of poems about the guy from the CD company which i will share at a later date. Anyways im now in the process of getting a new company to make the CDs and they should be ready in a week or two at most( where have you heard that before). I have decided to release a download single in the meantime and its called 'Love You Bring'. Its got quite a christmas vibe to it except it has nothing whatsoever to do with christmas. Its available at all the usual places for download and i do hope you enjoy it.

cheers
paul

This Is That

Hello folks

After a wait of two years, I’m happy to announce that I’ve finished my next record – a six song mini-album called ‘This is That.’ 5 of the songs were engineered and produced at Chem 19 by Dave McAulay. The other track was produced by the very talented Kenny Inglis.

It’s currently being manufactured south of the border and the CD will be available to purchase in the next couple of weeks. If you’re in a hurry, downloads are available from my website now, and you will be able to get it shortly from itunes, amazon etc etc.

It’s a bit of a departure from the country flavoured excesses of my last release so please tie your horses up at the fence and leave your Stetsons at the door.

Im happy with the finished product even if it was hard work! Im currently working on new songs which should be ready very soon(2 years at the most). In the meantime check out Dave McAulays band here:

And Kenny Inglis here:

cheers
